Scholastics?

Scholastics loves army men, right?

Drowning

A visual representation of the futility of human life, how one day, all will drown, no matter what chair you sit in.

Why My Project Will be Late

So. I understand that the project is due today and I also have enough images to turn it in, but I really don't like my project and think I could do a much better project, as I really like my idea for this project. I'll reshoot this weekend and turn in a project I really like next week.
I do not understand jokes. That's why I can't come up with any

Super Neat

How do I even begin explaining all of the myriad ways in which this picture appeals to me?

I like it

There are so many things I like about this photograph, so here's a short list (all taken from the greatest photo descriptor that has ever graced this planet, David Silverman):
I really like the bold colors.
I love this picture because the subject is so unique and the background is great.
I like the texture.
I love the texture and the subject is really unique and interesting.
The contrast is nice.
I also like the exposure because it creates some nice shadows.
I love the shadows and texture.
There is nothing left for me to say.

More Duane Michals

I really like these photographs for their creepy atmospheres and for the whole story within photo-sequences idea.

Next Project

I will be messing with scale and angles as an approach to landscapes. My artist will be Duane Michals, specifically his picture below, which was the inspiration for my series idea.  I also really like his idea of photo-sequence stories, but that might be difficult to communicate with landscapes.

Next Project

So, I really don't know what I'd like to do for the next project.  I like the idea of shooting in film, but I really don't know if that will actually happen.  I'd really like to do something radically different from other stuff, my last two projects ended up looking way too similar.  Especially with a theme like landscapes, where it is really easy to get stuck in one idea that's been done over and over, I'd like to come up with something new and original.  I was thinking I could do macro landscapes and create tiny, elaborate landscapes and mess with sense of scale, maybe that's what I'll do.  We'll see, Internet, we'll see.

David's Great Suicide Attempt Number 2

Weird how some of these are starting to grow on me.  Still wish I had more time.

The Young and the Restless

Not really satisfied by the outcome of this project, especially regretting the lack of a working tripod, necessitating really high-ISO pictures, but I really like the theme that resulted from it. Only wish I had more time.

David Levinthal

Where the whole army man gimmick originated.  I really love the details and emotions he's able to communicate with the pictures, while still reminding you that the figures are just painted toys.

Army Men!

I like this picture a lot, for the texture on my hand, the sense of scale it provides, the almost eerie lighting, and the weird green effect on the hand.

Next Project

I'm doing film stills for my next project in the vein of Cindy Sherman's Untitled Film Stills.  Like her, I will also be shooting in black and white and will use costumes and develop settings to create scenes.  I would like my project to read like a storyboard for a movie.  Below are some examples of her work.

From the Dungeon

Super neat picture in which I continue to abuse shallow depth of field to make decent pictures (I really need to work on that, but that's another story).  Taken in my basement. True Story.

More Pictures

Still no flash drive, so here are more choice selections from the last project for me to draw my finals from.  Some of these, I'd like to crop, to create a bike against empty street effect.  Also, a lot of these would look great using polaroid-like filters and monochromatic effects, so hopefully I'll have time to mess with these without having to turn them in late.

Pictures!

So I no longer have a functioning flash drive, so this post will serve two purposes: to show new pictures and to get them at school so I can work on them and make them look pretty and stuff.
